"
I first had the idea of running when I envisioned a committee
that seeks to be a voice for the student population in FASS,
which provides welfare for them and also injects vibrancy
to the Faculty. With that in mind, I went around looking for
like-minded people who are full of initiative - those who
have worked with and impressed me.
Having a year of experience in
the MC and in NUSSU Council, I feel that I am in a good position
to lead and guide others who are running. This experience
also places me in an advantageous position with prior knowledge
to the constitution and rules within the Club and within NUS,
not to mention a closer
relationship with various Offices and Clubs in the NUS. "

"
Arts Camp and Rag left a great impact on me, and have left me
with a great sense of belonging towards the club. Therefore,
I would very much like to have a key role in bringing it to
greater heights, to be a part of it, and to in turn leave a
positive impact on those from the faculty.
I recognize the importance of
being actively involved in co-curricular activities. Therefore
running for this elections would be my first step into ensuring
that my life in NUS would be enriching, exciting and memorable.
I believe I have much to offer
and contribute. I have the experience of holding various key
positions at many different levels, including holding of a
key appointment in a management committee at tertiary level.
I always believe in doing my best, so as to never look back
and regret. Asked if I would regret giving this chance up?
Definitely. " |

" I have been
participating actively in arts-related activities so really
feel for the club. I do not want to be just an ordinary member
in arts club; I want to be able to really contribute significantly
and greatly to the club. I do not want to live my university
life in regret of not following my heart and doing what I
really like doing. Also, I have gained so much from arts,
it is time for me to do my part and allow more people to benefit
the way I did from arts. I aspire to live with passion and
lead with compassion, hope that I will be able to have your
support in fulfilling my wish to serve. " |

" As a fourth
year student, standing for elections may not seem to be the
most logical thing to do. However, I feel that it is a waste
to retire when I have gained so much knowledge and experience
from participating in student activities in NUS.
Therefore, I have decided to seek
office one last time to give back all that I’ve gained
back to Arts. With knowledge and experience on what can be
done and what cannot be done in NUS, I can advise the best
course of action in order to protect your rights as an Arts
student.
While I cannot promise to get everything
done, what I can promise is that any request for assistance
will be pursued until there are no options left. This is the
primary duty of a student representative, and I give my assurance
that I will fulfill this duty. " |

" Having been
through Arts camp, Rag and O-week and seeing what the 26th Committee
has contributed rouses in me the same passion to do just that
and make a difference for the faculty. It’s the yearning
to make an impact and leave a lasting contribution during this
stay in NUS (rather than just leaving solely with a piece of
paper) that prompts me to run for management committee and at
the same time, push boundaries and learn new skills in the process.
I love a good challenge. Running for the 27th management
committee is a challenge. And therefore, I run for the 27th
management committee.

" Having been an active participant during the RAG phase of NUS Arts "Project Six",
I wish to continue my active involvement in the Arts Committee, as more then a mere observer. Having been in various committees in
both the Republic of Singapore Air Force and Singapore Presbyterian Churches, I have gained much knowledge which I wish to put to use
through the committee, for the benefit of the FASS community.
If I am successfully nominated, I would be running for the post of Marketing, and hope to become the DOS as well,
as I feel those are the two posts which I would be able to contribute most strongly to.
Allow me to make the difference. " |

" In the past
year, I have learnt many things whilst being involved in several
projects by the Arts Club. Over the course of this period, I
had experienced ups and downs with people whom I have met along
the journey. This has helped shape my decision to run for the
27th Management Committee so as to help the faculty in whatever
ways I can. Also, I would like to share the knowledge gained
from my previous involvement in Arts Club projects with the
committee, and simultaneously, learn to be a better person from
these people. By contributing
to the 27th MC, I hope to assist in it becoming a strong committee.
For I believe, the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences deserves
the best in terms of welfare, activities, and a voice for
the masses. "

" I am running for a seat
in the 27th Management Committee because of a vision that
I set for myself, to craft and create a memorable lifestyle
for all students of FASS. More specifically I would really
want freshmen matriculating into NUS to experience events
that would leave behind lasting memories in NUS that will
stay with them for the rest of their lives. I decide to run
for the post of Sports Secretary because I believe that sports
is truly an avenue where people from all walks of lives and
historical background can get together in the name of team
spirit and focus their efforts on one common goal of achieving
victory as a team. It is an arena where bonds of friendship
can be strengthened beyond imaginations.
As such I intend to utilize this
way of life to reach out to all FASS students of NUS, to touch
their lives and allow them the opportunity to forge memories
of their lives here in NUS, memories which will stand the
test of time and never be forgotten. " |

" Getting into
university was a dream come true for me and probably most of
you. Although I want to do well in my studies, I don’t
believe that life should revolve only around academics. That
is why I decided to run for the management committee for Arts
Club. I believe that by joining the committee, I will learn
many new skills in areas such as marketing, networking and programming.
I have determination,
perseverance, enthusiasm and a willingness to try new things,
qualities that I believe will aid me in my journey as an MC
member (should you vote me in) to serve you better. If elected,
I would like to focus on uniting the Arts Faculty through
the Freshmen Orientation Projects as well as to continue infusing
the Arts Spirit into freshmen. "

" My strong belief is that, Arts Club as a constituent body should at foremost represent
the voices of the faculty, acting as the bridge between the student body and the university administration, promoting and protecting
the interests and the welfare of its members. With this in mind, I made a decision to run for the 27th Management Committee,
hoping to be a part of the team to serve the club and faculty to realise this vision. On top of that, what strengthens this
decision is the involvement in Freshman Orientation Projects (FOP) such as Arts Camp 06, Rag and Flag 06, which has inculcated this sense
of belonging to the faculty in me, easing my entry into university life. I hope the same for all members of the faculty, to
feel belonged and to be esteemed members of the faculty. "

" Each of my past
experiences in organising camps and various activities have
touched me in various ways. Assisting the various charity organisations
have given me a great sense of satisfaction and each of the
projects i've undertaken has taught me new lessons in planning
and leadership. I want to contribute what i have learnt to the
student body and I feel that joining the committee would be
a good avenue for me to exercise and expand on my experiences.
If nominated, i would
be running for the positions of either charity projects director
or deputy sports director as my expertise and passion lies
in those two areas and that would put me in a better position
to do a good job for the club. I am sure being in the committee
would be a challenge, a challenge that I will tackle with
enthusiasm, to the best of my ability. In so doing, I hope
to bring similar joy and satisfaction to the students of FASS
through the various projects. "

" I am a down-to-earth fun-loving person who believes
in working hard for what a person believes in. I believe my strength lies in my abilities to adapt
to a multitude of situations and my strength in networking.
Hence as a business director, besides sourcing for financial and exposure opportunities for
the club and maintaining the good relations we already have with our business partners and sponsors,
my dream is to bring our club to newer heights.
Give us a chance; we want to make it happen. Choose Team Red & Black. "

" As a member
of the previous Management Committee, I have experience in the
area of getting sponsorships and IT projects. I wish to share
my knowledge to kickstart these areas.
I also want to bring practical student welfare to Arts.
Examples are enrichment courses like personal grooming and
resume writing, and providing jobs for Arts students. I believe
these programmes will give our students an advantage when
they graduate.
Lastly, I am running because
I want to continue my service to the club. I hope to have
a chance to do a better job than before, and to correct any
mistake from my previous term. I promise I will do my best
for the club and fulfill the duties that I have chosen to
take on. "
